Frequently Asked Questions.

Motorhomes are usually built on a truck cab and have the cab incorporated within the living space. Motorhomes also tend to be more generous with their interior living. Campervans can be a bit more basic when it comes to facilities and living. Our motorhomes are all certified self-contained which means you have far more options when it comes to freedom camping. In NZ the names do tend to get used interchangeably.

When you hire a Roam Motorhome you have included the standard insurance cover with a $7000 excess (deductible). We offer 2 options to reduce the excess (deductible) you pay should an unforeseen accident or incident occur. Find out more here.

If you choose one of the insurance excess reduction options, then no bond is required. If you opt for the standard, included insurance then a $7000 bond will be required on pick up of your motorhome.

A deposit of 25% of the full hire price will be required at the time of booking and this will confirm your adventure! The balance is due 28 days before your hire period starts.

You need a full and current license that has been held for more than a year. If you have an international driver’s license issued in another language you must bring a certified translation with you.

License must be with you at time of hire, and we cannot rent to drivers under 25 years old.

Unfortunately, unforeseen things do happen sometimes. If you damage the motorhome or are involved in an accident of any sort, call us immediately and we can assess the suitability of continuing to use the motorhome.

Hopefully you will have chosen one of our insurance excess reduction options and if there are repairs to be made then they will not be costly for you.

If we can accommodate the longer booking the absolutely, yes! You would need to call us to make sure the motorhome is not otherwise booked in the time you wish to extend to, and we can make a plan!

You don’t need to clean the motorhome, just make sure it is clear of all rubbish and personal belongings.
